We say Happy New Year to everyone on the first of January each year, and we expect the New Year to come with great opportunities and blessings.
I had a reflection of what life felt like for all of 2015, I am not able to picture a time when I was completely without pain, I always seem to be managing and coping with pain.
I also remembered times I thought I have had enough, and the only thing that kept me going in those difficult days, was knowing I am not alone.
I knew that God was with me in those times when I could not cope, giving me strength when I needed it, and placed the right people around me.
I felt the love of God with me in those dark times, and that was what saw me through the year.
I held on tight to the words of God daily, I looked out for what he is saying to me daily, I drew strength daily from holding Him to His word.
The blessings poured out to me was immeasurable, I knew that whatever happened to me, God is still God.
I look back to 2015 and all I have to say is THANK YOU GOD for everything I have learnt in 2015, being patient and allowing you do all you want to do in me.
Using the times I can not move around to show me I am useful even in my bed ridden times.
Teaching me to listen more to what you are saying, and teaching me obedience in many ways.
I say thank you for the people I have been blessed with doing my life’s journey with.
I know God has a purpose for my life, yes I am coping with pain, I refuse to let it define me.
My daily reading from “Experiencing God’s renewal” puts God’s purpose for our lives into perspective:
God has a purpose for each of us. Some of us know our purpose while others are still in the process of uncovering it. When we know our purpose God uses it to enable us to renew his kingdom, but in order to renew his kingdom; we must continually renew our purpose and ourselves. Don’t let God’s purpose for your life become stale and feel old to you. Allow God to renew his purpose in such a way that it feels as fresh as the day you just uncovered it. Ask Him to expand your purpose and show you specifically the way you can contribute to renewing his kingdom in the same way he has renewed your life and purpose.
I could not have put God’s purpose for our lives in better words than these, those words are summed up from the book of the bible Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, “says The Lord.” They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.
What is God’s purpose for you in 2016? Are you going to give up that purpose if things are not going as planned?
Are you going to continue to ask God to renew his purpose for you this year?
I pray this time next year when you and I look back and reflect on 2016, we would have so much to be grateful for all God has done this year.
What is God’s purpose for you this year?
Happy New Year.
